Freelance Editor (Wuxia / Murim)

Application Open: June 20, 2025

Do you love reading about two (or more) fictional guys falling in love—and maybe fighting off some sword-wielding enemies while they’re at it? Us too. Come join our team and turn that passion into your next gig!

Requirements

For the June–August 2025 hiring round, we’re specifically looking for someone with:

  • Experience editing historical Danmei, Wuxia, or Korean Murim titles
  • Familiarity with adaptation or line editing processes
  • (Nice to have) Basic comfort with Chinese characters—you’re confident searching them online when needed. There’s no need to read or write them!

What You’ll Do

  • Polish translated manuscripts so they read smoothly in English, while keeping each story’s distinct voice and tone
  • Research historical references and cultivation vocab for contextual accuracy
  • Collaborate with translators and other editors to build consistent Ko→En terminology

Hiring Terms

This project is estimated to be more than 300,000 words, so we’re looking for someone who can commit for at least a year.

  • Type: Freelance, project-based role
  • Location: Remote—Open to candidates worldwide.
  • Compensation: Word-count based
    • Please specify your desired rate (per word) in the application form.

How to Apply

This application round is only for the role described above. We’re not looking for general genre editors at the moment!

Please submit your resume, portfolio, and a work sample (preferably a historical fiction piece) to this form.
