Freelance Letterer

Requirements

For the November–December 2025 hiring round, we’re specifically looking for two Freelance Letterer with:

Necessary

  • A portfolio showcasing manhwa/manga/manhua lettering and typesetting
  • Excellent understanding and experience with Adobe Suite, especially InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Familiarity with adaptation and/or localization processes
  • Strong understanding and hands-on experience with font selection, lettering styles, and commercial font licensing

Nice to Have

  • Experience working on text-heavy titles that require redrawing (e.g., system windows in modern fantasy pieces)
  • Familiarity with the BL genre and comfort working with uncensored panels
  • Understanding of CMYK for print

What You’ll Do

  • Work exclusively with finalized print pages (none of our current projects use vertical-scroll/webtoon formats)
  • Assess original lettering styles and propose a font set with weights that best match the source (e.g., Comicraft Meanwhile Regular & Italic for regular speech bubbles, Blambot Blambastic Regular for comedic asides)
  • Create, stylize, and place SFX that complement the art and align with the original design intent
  • Communicate regularly with the team; must be available for collaboration for at least 3 hours within PST business hours

Hiring Terms

Both projects will be starting from the beginning and each project is at least 10 volumes, so we’re looking for freelancers who are committed to seeing their story through to the end.

  • Type: Freelance, project-based role (usually by volume)
  • Location: Remote and open to candidates worldwide
  • Compensation: Page- or volume- based
